Of Breathing, Dreaming and Blogging!
A few weeks ago, I went to the open house of ‘Toronto Body Mind’ in, well, Toronto. There, I met a beautiful soul whose heart is full love for India, her culture, her food, her Yoga and philosophy, her Bollywood….the whole enchilada. Ladies and gentlemen, her name is Mariellen Ward and she is a blogger-extraordinaire and published author! Mariellen is the author of “Song of India” – a collection of her travel blogs published in various prestigious publications such as the Toronto Star, Discover India magazine – as well as an e-book called “9 Travel Perspectives”. Mariellen is a professional Journalist and worked in the industry as a copywriter. Somewhere along the lines, she discovered her ‘muse’ (for those who don’t know, that’s journalism speak for one’s area of passion in writing…I didn’t know it until yesterday, if it’s any consolation) to be India, promptly quit her job and is happily pursuing her passion of “Eat, Travel and Blog” (not necessarily in that order). She also received training in Yoga in Krishnamacharya’s lineage from their Mandiram in Chennai. And, I wouldn’t have done justice to Mariellen if I didn’t mention her great talent for capturing the beauty of India thru her camera lens!
Here is what her blog “Breathe Dream Go” stands for, from the horse’s mouth: “BreatheDreamGo is my vision. The name says it all. It’s a Mantra and it summarizes my own experience and it’s a formula for others to follow. Breathe is the wisdom of Yoga and the importance of Prana, breath. Dream is knowing who you are and where you want to go. Go is doing it, taking the steps: creating, studying, volunteering, traveling and giving”. Ah, I couldn’t have done that any better!
BTW, she takes her food seriously and is as good at whipping up a Dal or Curry a la Indien as she is with her pen! Consider yourself lucky if you get invited to savor her home-cooked food!
I know I shouldn’t stand between you and her engaging blog for too long, so here is the link to her blog…happy reading! While you are there, don’t forget to write a few comments on her posts, I am sure you won’t miss her penchant for writing about India. Also, Mariellen will be covering the upcoming (or, already here!) IIFA, so check back with her blog for regular updates…
